Queenslanders want to know when NDIS will begin

The 97,000 Queenslanders living with a disability still have no idea where – or when – an “early launch” of the National Disability Insurance Scheme will begin in Queensland.
Around $2 million was set aside in Tuesday’s Queensland Budget for an “early launch” for Australia’s NDIS, yet no-one will say when or where the “early launch” will start.

Queensland has decided to hold an “early launch” for the scheme – which begins from July 2016 – because there has been no NDIS trial in Queensland.
All other states have run NDIS trial sites, set in train after former prime minister Julia Gillard came to Queensland in May 2013 to sign the agreement with former premier, Campbell Newman.

Fairfax Media on Wednesday spoke to several small and large disability care providers in Queensland.   None of the providers knew where the “early launch” would take place, or when it would begin.

“It is one of the most closely guarded secrets ever,” one provider said.

Another told of receiving a letter on Tuesday from a woman caring for four disabled children who was worried the NDIS will be too complex for her to join.

All providers spoken to agreed there was very little updated NDIS information and many clients were getting nervous.    Read more….

Help Kim find employment

Can you help Kim find employment?  This is a desperate plea from a determined and skilled young lady.    We all realise it can be difficult to find a job these days, but even more so, for a person with a disability.     A close second in an interview is still no job at all.  I am asking on Kim’s behalf for you to look at her resume and open some doors for her.     Her letter to me below along with a copy of her resume.

Good morning Yvonne,
I hope this finds you well. I was given your name and contact details by my local member; Mr. Ross Vasta; for Bonner. I wrote to him regarding the difficulties in finding suitable employment on a part-time basis with people with a Disability. I was wondering whether you might be able to guide me and help me, to fulfil this. I would truly appreciate it, beyond words. I have researched your website and what you do at Special Care Central. I am very impressed by the idea of encouraging social inclusion and awareness in our community.

I have applied for well over 500 jobs on my own, during the past 12 months, to which I am gaining interviews and doing very well – but coming in a very close second. It is getting quite disheartening as there does not seem to be much support and flexibility for people like myself who have a disability, but who is so incredibly determined to make a difference in the workplace and can offer an employer many valuable skills and knowledge within my area of Administration (Document Management, Data Entry) and Graphic Design Skills.  This is my resume..  Kim Ramillon_AdministrativeAssistant_Simple
