I had the pleasure to visit with Dean at the Showroom and workshop of Mobility Rentals & Sales on Friday at Woodridge and was very impressed with what I saw.
They provide a training area at their showroom and make available mobility/disability equipment for your training staff to use for patient/manual handling training. This service is free with no cost and they can support groups of up to 12. Simply advise the dates that best suit you and they can advise if the area and equipment are available for your trainer and staff undergoing patient handling training.
What a great opportunity for Facilities to have these premises available where your staff can be trained (by your trainer) in how to use various pieces of equipment correctly.
I was also impressed by their Quarantine procedures which start when the first piece of equipment is delivered to their door, wether it be a new piece or equipment that has been returned from hire.
One of the main items that caught my attention was the Contempo – 3 function bed, which is suitable for hospital, nursing homes, aged care & private use. Have a look at it’s great features here..
Another item that bought back memories for me was the Sheepskins. I purchased a Sheepskin “rug” for my mother when she was in a nursing facility, however they decided to put it through the Facility Laundry…. ooooooh What a mistake! it shrunk to the size of a dolls blanket and became rigid and brittle. When I relayed my story to Dean he indicated that these Australian Medical grade sheepskins can be laundered many times over at wash temperatures up to 80 degrees Centigrade, thus achieving high level disinfection that will meet hospital infection control standards. At these high temperatures, thermal disinfection is easily achieved with the tanning technology ensuring a stable leather for a long life over many wash/dry cycles. In excess of 50 cycles are possible based upon CSIRO tests.
Also the Uniquely, wool fibres can absorb up to 34% of their dry weight in moisture without feeling damp, rapidly dissipating this moisture away from the source. This is a cause of great comfort to immobile or incontinent people, where moisture is caused by perspiration or urine. From personal experience these are an absolute blessing and should be a MUST for all residents with limited mobility. You can find out more here
Deans family have experience as carers themselves, so if you would like to ask him a question he can be contacted on 1300 460 070
